These words may sound alike to some people but they are pronounced a little differently.
The first word “work” is a verb which means to labor.
The second word “walk” is a verb which means to move on foot, by advancing feet alternately.
One of the difference between the two words lies in their vowel sounds.
The word “work” has this “wɜ” sound
while “walk” begins with this “wɔ“ sound.
In the word “work”, there is also this “r” sound like “wor”.
You need to curl the tip of your tongue back to say “work”.
